Install the Melso CLI
Install the CLI and connect your computer so Tasks can run on it.
Five steps to install the Melso CLI and connect your computer as a local runtime.
You need: a Melso account, and Node.js with npm for step 3.
1. Install
On macOS and Linux:
curl -fsSL https://downloads.melso.ai/install.sh | bashOn Windows, in PowerShell:
irm https://downloads.melso.ai/install.ps1 | iexOpen a new terminal and check that it works:
melso version2. Sign in
melso loginA browser window opens. The Melso account you sign in with becomes the owner of this computer.
3. Install the agents
melso worker local setupThis installs Codex, Claude, and Pi under your Melso profile. It does not change any copy you already have.
4. Start the worker
melso worker local startLeave this terminal open. Closing it takes the computer offline.
5. Check it in Melso
Open Settings → Computers. Your computer appears under its hostname, labelled Yours. It can take up to 30 seconds to show as Online.
To use it, open the Run on menu in the Task composer and pick your computer.
Good to know
- AI accounts: Tasks use the accounts connected in Settings → AI providers. You do not need to sign in to Claude or Codex on the computer. See Provider accounts.
- Updates: the worker updates itself when no Run is active. To update by hand, run
melso update. Updating does not upgrade Codex, Claude, or Pi; runmelso worker local setupagain for that. - Older install: if you installed the CLI before automatic updates, run
melso updateonce.
