Become self-employed
Work for yourself.
You do what you’re good at. We handle the paperwork.
Tell us what you will do. We register you with Hacienda and the Seguridad Social, then handle your taxes.
- Hacienda: Form 036
- Social Security: RETA registration
- First year: Flat rate
Your first client. Your first invoice. Your name on the door.
From idea to your first invoice.
Three steps. The paperwork is on us.
- Step 1
Tell us about your work
What you will do, from when and where. We help you pick your activity code and your VAT and income tax regimes.
- Step 2
We file your registration
We file form 036 with Hacienda and your RETA registration with the Seguridad Social, and request the flat rate if you qualify.
- Step 3
You start invoicing
Invoice from the app while your agent keeps your expenses in order. A professional prepares your first quarter.
Start wherever you already are.
Register from the app, from Claude or on WhatsApp. Approvals always happen in Melso.
In the app
A short form: what you do and when you start.
From Claude
Connect Melso and ask it to prepare your registration.
On WhatsApp
Message your agent; it asks for what is missing.
Included in Melso Pro.
Pro includes your registration, your quarterly taxes and your Renta, prepared by professionals.
Included
- Tax registration with Hacienda (form 036)
- Registration in the RETA with the Seguridad Social
- Flat-rate check, requested with your registration
- Activity code and VAT and income tax regimes, with a professional
- Your quarterly returns and Renta, with Pro
You pay your cuota de autónomo to the Seguridad Social. Licences for your activity and payroll are separate.
Before you register
Registration is included in Melso Pro, together with your quarterly returns and your Renta. Hacienda and the Seguridad Social charge nothing to register: what you pay them each month is your cuota de autónomo, the self-employed contribution.
Before you start. Form 036 goes in before your start date and the RETA registration before or on the same day, up to 60 days in advance. Registering late costs you the flat rate.
Your DNI or NIE, your Social Security number, what you will do and from when, your address and a bank account for the contribution. If anything is missing, we ask for it in the app.
If you have not been in the RETA in the previous two years (three if you had it before), you pay €88.64 a month in 2026 for twelve months. It is requested with the registration and we check it with you.
Melso handles your taxes: forms 303 (VAT) and 130 (income tax prepayments) every quarter and the Renta, the annual income tax return. Our professionals prepare them and file them once you approve the exact version in the app.
It depends on how much you earn, your risk and whether you will reinvest. If in doubt, start with the autónomo or company calculator, or ask us on WhatsApp.
