An estimate under 2026 rules. Your case may have details that change it, so check before you decide. Calculated in your browser: nothing you type is sent or stored.
How it is calculated.
Your cuota de autónomos.
From income less expenses, minus a further 7%, we find your 2026 band and take its lowest cuota. In your first year, the flat rate of €80 a month.
Your net business income.
Income less expenses and less the cuota, which is deductible too. Under estimación directa simplificada, the usual regime for the self-employed, another 5% comes off for hard-to-prove expenses, up to €2,000 a year.
Reductions.
If your net income is under €12,000, the law reduces it by up to €1,620. If you are starting out, 20% comes off in your first year with profit and the next.
Income tax (IRPF).
We apply the general scale, from 19% to 47%, and the first €5,550 of your personal allowance pay nothing. Each region in Spain sets its own scale, so your figure may differ.
What you keep.
Invoicing less expenses, cuota and IRPF. The withholding on your invoices and the modelo 130 quarterly payments are advances on this IRPF, not an extra tax.

What people ask us most.
It depends on what you invoice and spend. On €40,000 invoiced and €6,000 of expenses a year, you pay a cuota of €427.21 a month and about €5,340 of IRPF a year, and keep about €1,961 a month.
No. The VAT (IVA) on your invoices is collected for the tax office (Hacienda, the AEAT) and paid every quarter with the modelo 303, after taking off the VAT on your expenses. That is why we work without VAT.
An allowance the tax office lets you take off without receipts under estimación directa simplificada: 5% of your net business income, up to €2,000 a year.
No. They are advance payments of the year’s IRPF. Your annual return (the renta) takes them off what you owe, and refunds you if you paid too much.
We use the general scale and only the personal allowance. Your region, children, other income or a pension plan change the result.
