Quipu review: pricing, features and alternatives
Our take on Quipu for the self-employed in Spain: regular and promotional prices, plan limits, annual cost and the difference between buying software and handing off your tax work.
In short
- Compare the regular fee, the introductory offer and annual billing before you choose.
- Count your documents and check which plan covers the scanning and banking features you need.
- Get in writing who will review and file your returns and what that service costs.
- Test the export and a support question before you move all your information across.
Is Quipu worth it for the self-employed?
Our Quipu review is positive if you want to run your own invoicing and choose how much to automate. To hand off your taxes, compare the professional service too: Quipu lists its gestoría (a firm that files your returns and paperwork) as optional in its official price list, accessed 12/10/2026. It depends on how much work you want to keep doing yourself.
This review is based on public documentation checked on 12 October 2026. We separate the advertised features, user experiences and the terms you should confirm for your business. We have not tested the service with a customer account.
Quipu pricing: what do you pay after the promotion?
Quipu advertises 50% off for the first three months of monthly billing in its official price list, accessed 12/10/2026. To budget for the year, compare that offer with the regular fee and annual billing:
| Plan | Regular monthly fee | Promotional fee, first 3 months | Annual billing | Monthly equivalent of annual |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Starter | €17 | €8.50 | €168 | €14 |
| Solution | €30 | €15 | €300 | €25 |
| Premium | €59 | €29.50 | €588 | €49 |
Source for the prices in the table: Quipu, accessed 12/10/2026. The monthly equivalents are our own calculations: we divide each annual price by twelve. They help with comparison, even though you are charged once a year. Keep a copy of the terms you sign up under, because the offer may change.
Whether VAT is included in these prices is still to be confirmed. The Quipu page, accessed 12/10/2026, does not say next to the prices. We show the published amounts; ask for the breakdown and the total you will be charged before you pay.
What should you ask for to budget the optional gestoría?
Quipu presents its gestoría as an optional service in its plans table, accessed 12/10/2026. Gestoría price: on request for your case. The table does not say how often it is billed, so you cannot work out a comparable annual cost.
Ask for a proposal for your business that sets out the full price, the billing frequency, whether the software is included, which returns are covered and any extra services. Until you have that breakdown, budget for the software and the professional work separately.
What does each plan include and which limits matter?
Invoices and documents: start from your real volume
Starter advertises unlimited invoices and quotes, a mobile app, tax estimates and 30 scans a month with its automatic invoice and receipt reader. Solution allows 250 scans a month and Premium 350. Those limits apply to the documents you digitise with the reader, not to the invoices you issue. Source: Quipu plans, accessed 12/10/2026.
Count the documents in a normal month and in a busier one. Include the small expenses that currently sit in your inbox. The number of invoices you issue is not enough to estimate how much you will use the reader.
Banking and cash flow: check which task you want to automate
Solution adds bank connection and reconciliation, plus orders and delivery notes. Reconciling means matching bank transactions to their documents. Premium adds automatic reconciliation, direct debit batches, project analytics and a cash flow dashboard with scenarios. Source: Quipu plans, accessed 12/10/2026.
Consider Solution if matching payments and expenses takes up a good part of closing each period. Premium is worth a trial if you need to plan your cash or work with direct debit batches. This recommendation is based on the advertised features; check the result against your own workflow and your bank.
Taxes: separate preparing, reviewing and filing
Quipu's official explanation separates recording income and expenses, auto-filling forms, reviewing and downloading them, and then uploading them to Hacienda. It also describes how you work with your adviser. Source: Quipu tax management, accessed 12/10/2026.
A form (modelo) is the template for a tax return. Before you choose a tool, agree who checks the data and who handles each step. Our guide to accounting for the self-employed helps you organise the paperwork that will feed into that work.

What do the reviews say and how do you judge reliability?
Quipu gathers testimonials on ease of use, organisation and customer service in the "What do our users think?" section of its tax management page, accessed 12/10/2026. These experiences are picked by the provider: they show the benefits it wants to highlight, but they do not tell you how often other users run into problems.
You can widen the sample on Trustpilot, accessed 12/10/2026, and Capterra, accessed 12/10/2026. Before you give a review much weight, look at when it was written, what the author does for a living and what they were trying to get done. Also check whether it refers to the plan and version you are considering.
Turn the reviews into questions for your trial. If someone mentions a customer service problem, send a question and judge the answer. If they talk about reports, ask to see the one you need. To test the scanning, bring documents from your own business: that way you will know how much of their experience resembles yours.
What works in the offer is the choice between different levels of digitisation and banking features. What needs attention is the reader limits and the support per plan: Starter advertises email; Solution adds chat and phone. Source: Quipu, accessed 12/10/2026.
Our view is that Quipu deserves a place on your shortlist if your tax review is already sorted and you want to improve your day-to-day organisation. If your main difficulty is deciding how to declare a transaction, first work out who will advise you and with what scope.
Example: how much does a year of Quipu Solution cost?
Picture Lucía, a self-employed designer who wants to use the software for twelve months. This is an illustrative case: it only compares the Solution subscription, keeps the same plan and adds no extras. The starting amounts come from the official price list, accessed 12/10/2026.
- Work out the promotional period: 3 months × €15 = €45.
- Add the rest of the year: 9 months × €30 = €270.
- Add both periods together: €45 + €270 = €315 for twelve monthly payments with that promotion.
- Compare annual billing: the published price is €300, equivalent to €25 a month.
- Look at a year without the promotion: 12 × €30 = €360, if the regular fee stays the same.
| Solution billing option | Calculation | Cost for 12 months |
|---|---|---|
| Annual billing | Published price | €300 |
| Monthly with introductory promotion | €45 + €270 | €315 |
| Twelve monthly payments without promotion | 12 × €30 | €360 |
These are our own calculations from the same Quipu price list, accessed 12/10/2026. They leave out extras and do not settle the VAT question that is still to be confirmed. Nor do they assume the promotion will apply again on renewal.

In this scenario, paying annually saves €15 compared with the promotional first year and €60 compared with twelve regular payments. In exchange, you pay for the year up front. Weigh that difference against the cancellation and refund terms you are given.
What is still missing is a budget for the tax work Lucía will keep doing herself or hand to someone else. Ask for proposals for the same business, the same forms and the same period. That way you can compare the cost of software plus advice with a gestoría.
How Melso helps
If you want to hand off the tax review, Melso helps with your quarterly taxes: Pro costs €59 a month or €588 a year (€49 a month equivalent) and includes the Renta, Spain's annual income tax return (Form 100, modelo 100), according to your business and tax profile. Before you sign up, confirm which returns the professional will review and file.
Quipu and VeriFactu: what should you check in 2026?
Quipu advertises VeriFactu readiness in its plans. That is the feature the provider claims on its pricing page, accessed 12/10/2026. To sign up with good judgement, keep that sales claim separate from the legal timetable and the software's documentation.
The first final provision of Royal Decree-law 15/2025 (Real Decreto-ley 15/2025) pushed back the adaptation: before 1 January 2027 for affected corporate income tax (Impuesto sobre Sociedades) payers and before 1 July 2027 for everyone else who is obliged, including self-employed people covered by the regulation. Source: BOE, accessed 12/10/2026.
The AEAT (Agencia Estatal de Administración Tributaria, Spain's tax agency) distinguishes between systems that send invoicing records, the VeriFactu mode, and those that meet the requirements without sending them. Using an adapted system and choosing how records are sent are related but separate decisions. Source: AEAT general questions, accessed 12/10/2026.
Important
Certification is shown through the manufacturer's responsible declaration for that version of the product. The AEAT explains that it requires no external certification or prior registration of the software: ask for that document before you sign up. Source: AEAT, accessed 12/10/2026.
To find out whether it applies to you, check how you invoice, whether you use the SII (Suministro Inmediato de Información, the system for reporting VAT records to the AEAT in near real time) and the regional rules that apply, among other conditions set out by the AEAT on who it applies to, accessed 12/10/2026.
Check with your adviser which mode you will use. We go into those questions in VeriFactu for the self-employed. Sending invoicing records is also not the same as hiring someone to prepare and file your returns.
Which alternative suits your situation?
Compare software on the same tasks, and gestoría quotes with the same returns included. The table separates the two needs: keeping your invoicing in order and handing off the tax work. A lower price only helps if it covers what you need.
| Your situation | Option to consider | What to check first |
|---|---|---|
| You already have an adviser and want to invoice and digitise a small volume | Quipu Starter: invoicing and a limited reader. Source 12/10/2026 | That the reader and email support cover your routine. |
| You want to match bank transactions to documents | Quipu Solution: bank connection and reconciliation. Source 12/10/2026 | Compatibility with your bank and what will still be manual. |
| You need direct debit batches and cash forecasts | Quipu Premium: direct debit batches and cash flow tools. Source 12/10/2026 | A demo with your own payment and collection flow. |
| You want sales and stock management alongside invoicing | Holded: customer relationship management (CRM) and a paid inventory add-on. Source 12/10/2026 | Plan, add-ons and the cost of the full setup. |
| You want to hand off reviewing and filing your returns | A gestoría for the self-employed, with the scope in writing | Forms, authorisations, filing receipts and extra services. |
Quipu can be the best choice if your current advice works and the trial confirms the software handles your day-to-day organisation. Switching gestoría just to get a different tool can add work you do not need.
You will find another software review in our Holded review. To hand off tasks, use the criteria in best online gestoría and ask every provider for the same breakdown. Decide on the cost of the tasks you need covered.
How do you try it and get in touch before signing up?
Quipu advertises a 15-day trial, access to every feature and sign-up without a card. It also says you can cancel and export your information to Excel along with attached documents. Source: Quipu, accessed 12/10/2026.
Use the trial with a specific goal and documents that represent your business:
- Map the workflow. Pick a quote, an invoice and an expense that reflect your usual work; check how to test without accidentally issuing tax documents.
- Review the data. Check descriptions, amounts, dates and attachments. Note what you had to correct.
- Ask a question. Explain a real situation and judge whether the answer lets you carry on.
- Check the output. Try an export and ask your adviser to check they get what they need.

Tip
Note which features you used during the trial and which ones the plan you are paying for includes. A tool being available in the demo does not confirm that it is part of the subscription you choose.
To get in touch, Quipu publishes support@getquipu.com and 935 245 580, with hours from Monday to Thursday, 9 to 18 h, and Friday, 9 to 15 h. The support included depends on your plan. Source: Quipu contact and plans, accessed 12/10/2026.
Before you accept, also ask for the renewal, cancellation and any refund terms for annual billing. Being able to request a cancellation does not, on its own, tell you what happens to a period you have already paid for.
Common mistakes when choosing invoicing software
- Budgeting only for the introductory offer. Work out the first year and a full year at the regular price, so you know what you are deciding.
- Paying for features you do not need. Bring a list of real tasks to the demo and check which ones justify moving up a plan.
- Leaving nobody in charge of the review. Agree who will review each document, answer questions and sign off the period.
- Trusting a review without context. Look for a business like yours and check the condition that worries you with the provider.
- Moving everything across before testing the export. Check that you and your adviser can get back and use the information you need.
Before you sign up, you should be able to name the plan you need, work out its cost and explain who will do each task. If any answer is missing, get it in writing before you commit to annual billing.
How Melso helps
Melso is your AI tax agent, with human professionals behind it: it handles your day-to-day on WhatsApp and organises your income and expenses.
Melso and its professionals prepare and review the returns included according to your business and tax profile; you approve the exact draft in the app and, with the required authorisation, the professional files that version with the AEAT and you get the real filing receipt.
Confirm the scope before you sign up: other annual or informative returns, payroll services and AEAT notices need written confirmation; to switch to Melso, we review your situation and agree which quarter to start from.
