Work out your unemployment lump sum.
In Spain you can take the unemployment benefit you have left in one go, the pago único, to start working as an autónomo. Enter the days you have left and what you receive: we show what SEPE, the state employment service, pays and the conditions.

- Keep the business going for 5 years so it stays free of income tax.
An estimate under 2026 rules. Your case may have details that change it, so check before you decide. Calculated in your browser: nothing you type is sent or stored.
How it is calculated.
Your pending benefit.
The days you have left times your gross daily amount. SEPE counts whole days and pays 30-day months.
The lump sum.
To start as an autónomo you can take up to 100% of it at once, as much as your investment needs. SEPE takes off the legal interest rate, 3.25% in 2026; we estimate it month by month, as SEPE does not publish its formula.
Monthly cuotas.
What you do not take at once can pay your monthly Social Security cuota, fixed at the amount you start with and never below the cuota on the minimum contribution base in force, until the days run out.
The conditions.
Contributory benefit with at least 3 months left, and no lump sum in the previous 4 years. Apply before registering as autónomo and start within a month of the decision.
Afterwards.
Prove what you spent within a month of being paid. Keep the business going for 5 years and the lump sum is free of income tax (IRPF).

What people ask us most.
Up to 100% of what you have left, less the legal interest rate. With 360 days at €40 a day, about €14,153 at once, if your investment justifies it.
No. You must apply before registering as self-employed: if you are already registered, SEPE turns it down.
No. Only the contributory benefit, the one you earn by paying contributions, can be taken this way, not the subsidio.
No, if you use it as planned and keep the business going for 5 years. If you stop earlier, you lose the exemption.
You cannot claim unemployment benefit again until the time you took has passed, nor take another lump sum for 4 years. If you do not use the money for the business, SEPE can claim it back.
